A Day in the Life of an HVAC Technician: Keeping Gilbert Cool

Rise and Shine

My alarm goes off at 6:00 AM, and I’m up and ready to tackle another day as an HVAC technician at Ellsworth Home Services. After a quick breakfast and cup of coffee, I’m out the door by 7:00 AM, heading to our first call of the day in Gilbert, AZ.

Morning: Emergency AC Repair

Our first stop is a residential emergency call. A family’s air conditioner stopped working overnight, and with Gilbert’s scorching summer temperatures, it’s crucial we get there fast. I diagnose the issue quickly – a faulty capacitor – and have their system up and running within an hour. The relief on their faces reminds me why I love this job.

Mid-Morning: HVAC Installation

Next up is a scheduled HVAC installation at a new home in Chandler, AZ. This is a bigger job that’ll take most of the day. My team and I work efficiently to:

  • Remove the old system
  • Install the new unit
  • Set up the ductwork
  • Test and calibrate the system

It’s hard work, but seeing a brand-new, energy-efficient system come to life is always satisfying.

Afternoon: Routine AC Service

After a quick lunch break, I head to a couple of routine AC service appointments. These preventative maintenance checks are crucial for keeping systems running smoothly and avoiding unexpected breakdowns. I clean coils, check refrigerant levels, and ensure everything is operating at peak efficiency.

Evening: Emergency Call and Wrap-Up

Just as I’m about to call it a day, we get another emergency call for AC repair in Gilbert. A restaurant’s cooling system has failed during the dinner rush. I race over and quickly identify a clogged condensate drain. Within 30 minutes, their AC is back on, and grateful diners can enjoy their meals in comfort.

Back at the Ellsworth Home Services office, I wrap up my paperwork, restock my truck for tomorrow, and head home, tired but satisfied after another day of keeping Gilbert and Chandler cool and comfortable.
